We wait for autumn
Posted on | March 13, 2010 | No Comments
Wrote some new melodies last week and a new Embracing song which I’m going to arrange a bit next week.
This song called “We wait for autumn” which I begun writing on in 2004 have never really felt quite right. When I picked it up the other day I had some fresh inspiration to make something of the basic melody and lyrics. Maybe it should be named to “We wait for spring” instead …haha… Let us see how it turns out. =)
I’ve also coded a little bit on the Luminati iPhone port which tightened up the touch-control.
Luminati, iPhone porting update.

Just a week ago I started looking at xcode (Objective-C). Yesterday I got most pieces in place and the porting of Luminati is now coming along quite well.
It took me some time to get used to the syntax (it was ages since I coded C or C++).
I’m using cocos2D as API for graphics since it already supports most features that the game requires. All graphics from the flash actionscript 3 version of LUMINATI can be reused with minor adjustments in size ´n ratio. I will post a little clip of the iPhone version later this week. We’re also going to add a few more powerups like “Black mist”, “Windmill” & add some other goodies.
Oh, don’t forget to check out my latest theme “Until death do us part 1″ in the “epic orchestral section” of my mp3 player.
At the moment I’m totally into Regina Spektor, just listen to the songs “The call”, “Laughing with”, “Eet”, “Genius next door”. Guess I like the songs so much due to the fact it’s all based around a naked piano, which is the first instrument I started out with at a very young age. It feels like the circle is closing.
The songs also have the haunting melodies with an ethnic yet classical mixture that really keep you sucked in. It’s just sooo perfect!
Damn, I must get going with my own piano album, it’s been a while since I released a new album (think the last album was the Moody Blues tribute album I did a cover of “Blue world” in 2006). 2010 here we go!!!
Time for some coffee!!!
King’s table splash

Did some more work on the King’s table splash screen. I added some rings and a more slick haircut on the dude. We’ve started the porting of Luminati to the iPhone platform. I’ve got some new music themes in production and just finished a theme called “Until death do us part”, check it out in the mp3 player “epic category” at www.morningdewmedia.com

Here’s a piece of artwork I’ve been fiddling with today. It is the title screen of our next little game project called King’s Table.
New game projects
Posted on | February 21, 2010 | No Comments
Ahh, weekend at last. Tried out Dantes Inferno this morning, awesome game, I love God of war and Dantes Inferno is quite similiar (hehe) in many ways. We’ve fixed some bugs and added some new features to Luminati, I’ll post a updated video of the game soon. Today we are going to move the bedrooms to the second floor cause Elliot, my son, is going to have his own room. The team behind Luminati (me, Nicklas and Hans) have started planning on a few brand new game projects which will execute in the coming weeks. Nicklas and I also started looking at xcode and porting Luminati to iPhone which surely is tempting. Yesterday I spent writing the final notes on a new theme called “To the beginning”, I started arranging too but since it’s a quite large piece it might take a few days before it’s finished.
I’ll do a youtube piano version of the theme also, for the fun of it. =)
Hope you have a nice weekend friends!
Luminati updates.

We are very glad for all the great ciritics we’ve got on our game Luminati from fellow developers and beta testers, therefor we decided to add more stuff to the game. We’ve added hi-score and currently we’re adding a turn-timer and also a level-timer. Oh, and we are also adding a levelsystem. There will be +10 levels where the AI will get harder to beat, powerups will spawn less often, and the level-timer/turn-timer will run faster for each level you complete. This will make the game a notch harder to master. We expect to have the new version of the game ready in a few days.
Now to some more music related stuff, I’ve added a few vocal lines to the new club track Exokexo, typical dance/club sample stuff. =)
I also wrote a short acoustic guitar piece called “Day dreamer” a few days ago, you can listen to it at my Composer forum page.
Elephant watercolor painting

As usual I’ve had some time over during lunch to fiddle with a new watercolor piece.
This time it’s an elephant. Let me know if you like it!

Luminati is finished!
Posted on | February 4, 2010 | No Comments
We just finished the game Luminati after a long weekend with many hours of debugging and tons of coffee. The game now runs both in multiplayer (we use the come2play’s networking API), and as singleplayer game where you play against a AI. In the future iPhone, DSi, XBOX live (or whatever version we make) we will include more powerups, and more levels (novice, normal, hard etc.). You can try out the game at http://starfall.myftp.org/luminati
So what kind of game is LUMINATI?
It’s basically a connect four (4-in-row) with powerups.
Use powerups to destroy enemy tokens and gain points, but be aware that you loose points if you destroy your own tokens. There are two powerups in the current version, Wings of fury, and the Impaler. Wings of fury will unfold it’s wings and destroy a horizontal row of tokens when the token falls into place. Impaler will stab and destroy a vertical row of tokens when it falls into place.
Game features
Slick design, graphics and particle effects.
2 custom written music themes.
Powerful sound effects.
Play against AI or 2 player.
Game Controls
L R arrow keys to move token
Down arrow to drop token
Up arrow to activate powerup
I also finished a new song the other day called “City lights”, it contains alot of organic samples I’ve recorded and created Kontakt (sampler) instruments with. There’s a Toybox which is featured throughout the song in various modulated forms. I borrowed it from my son Elliot, and it gives a certain mood to the track.
It is a soft song to relax with during your coffe break. =)
New Luminati trailer.

We got a new Luminati teaser up at you tube. It shows the AI playing against a human player, and the powerups “Wings of fury” and “Impaler” in action.
Nicklas has been hacking AI while I have been working on the options-screen and added more sound effects to the game.
We ran into some trouble while trying out the game in the “real” online multiplayer environment, which caused the game to crash when switching turns between the players.
These issues were solved after somre hair-tearing debugging hours.
I also did a quick cam-recording with the Chinese Bawu last week, have a listen, the bamboo flute really has a cool character when you bend the tones.
Backdrop in acrylics
Posted on | January 20, 2010 | No Comments

Just threw together this backdrop in acrylic to be used in a webdesign. It’s supposed to reflect the theme passion.
Working hard at getting used to my new mac, and it’s getting along fine. At least 4-5 new songs are beeing hacked at the moment.
The game Luminati is also coming along well, my brother Nicklas has started implementing the AI, which is quite dumb at the moment, but it works.
Minor fixes and improvements have been added, like a credits screen with a retro sine-scroller…hehe. Window focus have been fixed.
We will post a new teaser where you can see the AI play in a day or two.
Keep it up!
keep looking »
